He finished sixth in men’s golf for third place after round two at the NCAA Norman Regional

Norman, Oklahoma. – The Texas Men’s No. 6 team earned a 2-under 286 par on Tuesday to stand in a tie for third place in the team standings after the second round of the NCAA Norman Regional at Jimmie Austin Golf Club. Carpentry Travis Vick The Longhorns led with a 5 under par 67 for the second day in a row and possesses a one-hit lead in the singles standings entering the final round on Wednesday.

The NCAA Norman Regional features 13 teams and 10 singles players. The five low teams and the individual low not in those five qualifying teams will advance to the NCAA Championship, scheduled for May 27 – June 1 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Auburn scored 12-under 276 on Tuesday and is number one in the team standings with a total of 36 holes from 20-under 556 (280-276). The regional hosts and second-seeded Oklahoma are in second place with a 14-under average of 562 (277-285). Texas (282-286) and Ole Miss (287-281) are tied for third 8-under 568, and Utah in fifth 4-under 572 (280-292). The Longhorns have a cushion of five runs over South Carolina in sixth at 3-under 573 (278-295).

Beginning his Tuesday run at nine noon, Vic opened with a birdie on the 10th and followed him up with birdies on the 14th and 16th to reach 3-under. He experienced a double bogey at 17 and took the role at 1 under. Vick blazed with three birds in a row on holes 3, 4 and 5 and added another birdie on the eighth hole five times to finish at 5-under for the second day in a row.

Vick holds the 36-hole lead in the singles standings at 10-under 134 (67-67). JM Butler of Auburn is one stroke behind Vic at 9-under 135 (66-69), and Brendan Valdes of Auburn is third with 7-under of 137 (69-68). Only five of the 75 players enter the final round tomorrow at 5 below par or better.

The NCAA Norman Regional concludes with 18 holes on Wednesday, May 18. Texans will be paired with Auburn and Oklahoma in the final round on Wednesday, and tee times will begin at 8 a.m. Central time off the first tee.
