CBJ has signed CJ Jack Roslovic to extend it by two years until the 2023-24 season

Signed Columbus Blue Jackets Center Jack Ruslovich General Manager and Alternate Governor Jarmo Kekalainen announced today the extension of a two-year, $8 million (US$4 million AAV) contract through to the 2023-24 National Hockey League season.

Roslovic, 25, scored 60 goals and 86 assists for 146 points with 44 minutes of penalty kicks, 14 goals in Power play, six match-winning goals and 446 shots on goal, while his average ice time was 13: 29 in 309 games with the blue team. Jackets and the Winnipeg Jets since being selected by the Jets in the first round, 25th overall, in the 2015 NHL Draft. He’s made a 34-45-79 with 26 PIM, eight PPG, five GWG, 18 multipoint attempts, 216 shots on target and has averaged a 15:15 TOI in 129 games since arriving in Columbus via trade from Winnipeg on January 23, 2021. The center recorded his all-time career highs in a single season in goals, assists and points in each of his five NHL campaigns.

“Jack is a talented offensive player with great speed and vision and has increased his production every season during his NHL career,” said Kekalainen. “He has made great strides in his overall game, especially during last season, and we are very pleased that he will continue to be an important part of our squad as we go forward.”

The Columbus native scored a 22-23-45 with 12 PIM, four PPG, four GWG, 10 multi-point efforts, a +2 plus/minus rating, and an icy 14:17 average time in 81 games with the Blue Jackets in 2021- 22. He has achieved his career highs in a single season in terms of goals, assists, points, match-winning goals, multi-point outings and matches played. The striker finished second to the team in match winners and fourth in both goals and Power Play goals (a tie). He finished the campaign with six consecutive points from April 17-28 (5-2-7), tied for the longest streak of his career, and set a new franchise record for most goals and points (tie) in a month in April with 10-3-13 in 14 games. Off the ice, he was named Community Player of the Year for the Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation and was the club’s nominee for the King Clancy Trophy this season.

In 2020-21, Ruslovich achieved 12-22-34, 14 PIM, four PPG and eight multi-point games with 85 shots in 48 competitions in his first season with the Blue Jackets. He led the team in Power Play (tie) and finished second in points (tie) and multi-point efforts. He made his NHL debut with Winnipeg on April 6, 2017 in Columbus and totaled 26-41-67 and 18 PIM in 180 contests over three complete campaigns with the Jets from 2017-20.

The 6-1, 193-pound striker made his debut with the American Hockey League’s Manitoba Moose in 2016-2017, collecting 13-35-48 and 22 PIM in 65 competitions. He split the 2017-18 campaign between Winnipeg and Manitoba before spending the next two seasons with the Jets. Before he turned professional, he played one season at the University of Miami scoring 10-16-26 with 18 minutes of penalty kicks in 36 games to earn the NCHC All-Rookie Team Honor in 2015-16. He also played for the Ohio AAA Blue Jackets U14 team in 2011-12 and the U16 and U18 teams in 2012-13 before spending two seasons with the United States National Team Development Program from 2013-15.

Ruslovich represented Team USA in the 2014 IIHF U17 World Hockey Challenge, 2015 IIHF U18 World Championship and 2017 IIHF World Junior Champions, winning gold medals in each tournament.
