Dan Campbell: Jared Goff is having a good spring

USA Today Sports

All in all, quarterback Jared Gauff had a mediocre first season with the Lions in 2021.

He finished the year completing 67.2 percent of his passes for 3,245 yards with 19 touchdowns and eight interceptions β€” good for a 91.5 passer rating.

But the quarterback finished the season well, passing for 1,250 yards with 11 touchdowns and a pair of pickups in his six starts after farewell. His passer rating was 101.8 during that period.

Heading into 2022, head coach Dan Campbell said Tuesday that Gauff has performed well throughout the program’s off-season.

β€œI don’t have red flags with him,” Campbell said in his press conference. β€œHe has a good understanding of our insult and what we are doing. He leads the assembly. He throws the ball really well – that’s something that I feel he does really well, and that’s one of his strengths. He’s a very precise bystander. And so I would say up until this point, he’s having a good spring.”

The Lions promoted Ben Johnson to offensive coordinator, signed receiver DJ Chark, and drafted receiver Jameson Williams in the first round. With Amon-Ra St. ready. Brown and TJ Hockenson To take another step in attack, Goff should be well prepared for his second season in Detroit.
