Even NHL rules analyst Don Koharsky couldn’t contain himself on Arturi Likonen’s goal in overtime Monday night in a 6-5 avalanche win against the Oilers.
Koharsky uttered “Holy s-t” during the TNT broadcast of Game 4 of the Western Conference Final, smashing the avalanche wing’s goal at 1:19 into overtime, which stood after a high stick review.
Describing the close call, Koharsky said, “You should be over the shoulder, pinch on the stick, over the shoulder – holy.”
Warning: explicit language
The former NHL referee arrested himself on the spot while fellow broadcasters who were launching the game laughed. Koharsky added, “That’s close.”
With the match tied at 5-5 in overtime, Laconon cleared the ball from Cal Makar’s shot for a goal, giving Avalanche the victory.
Colorado completed a four-game sweep against Edmonton to push Avalanche into the Stanley Cup Final for the first time since 2001. Colorado has not lost on the road this post-season.

Avalanche will face the Eastern Conference Final Series winner between the New York Rangers and the Tampa Bay Lightning, a two-time Stanley Cup champion.
The Rangers currently lead the best of a series of seven, 2-1, with Game 4 on Tuesday night in Tampa.
