Should You Trade Trail Blazers for a Knicks Forward Obi Tobin?

The Portland Trail Blazers are looking for some help in the front yard this season, and may have a potential business partner for the New York Knicks, who might be interested in handling 2020 first-round pick Obi Toppin.

According to The Athletic, the trade idea could be for the Knicks to send Toppin and the 11th pick, along with an additional first-round pick in 2023 by the Dallas Mavericks (top 10 protected) for the 7th pick, and last year’s rookies Keon Johnson and Greg Brown third.

If the Blazers manage to grab a significant piece of pick #7 like Jerami Grant or OG Anunoby, it might be worth taking that deal.

The Blazers are still getting lottery-level talent while also scoring a young player with a lot of potential at Toppin.

A particularly striking piece is the Mavericks 2023 pick, which can be used in the trading deadline to make the team a winning player now when assessing a team’s mid-season placement.

The cost of all this (going down four locations, Keon Johnson and Greg Brown III) isn’t enough deal-breakers for the Blazers to turn down.

While the Blazers have the potential to catch larger fish, this deal should definitely be a deal in mind for Portland if it is offered.
