Brian Flores’ season began with his firing as head coach of the Dolphins and he continued to sue Miami, the NFL and other teams over their hiring practices before he took over as Steelers coach inside the linebacker.

This lawsuit is ongoing and will likely have an impact on Flores’ chances of getting another coaching job in the future, but Flores insists football is all he has in mind right now. During a session with reporters on Wednesday, Flores said he wanted to put himself and his players on a “daily journey to try and get better and better.”

“My focus is really today, this team, this practice,” said Flores, via ESPN.com’s Brooke Pryor. “I try to live in the moment and not think about things that have happened in the past or gone too far in the future. I am really excited about the opportunity here.”

Flores was asked about recent improvements to Rooney’s rule aimed at increasing minority hiring and said he was “all” for more opportunities, but he would “sort of leave it” in terms of responding to specific changes.
