Frisco – The Dallas Cowboys knew exactly what they were going to get in John Ridgway.
And at Thursday’s OTA workout here at The Star?
They’ve got it.
Ridgway has been involved with attacking hookman Josh Paul during live action. A couple of helmets went flying. And before the rest of the team is allowed out of the backyard heat…
Ridgeway was sent “to the bathrooms.”
The Cowboys felt “out of body” in their playoff loss to the Niners and wanted to use the NFL draft to avoid getting “big-boy’ed” again.
One of the results? “Vanilla Gorilla”.
“I’ll try,” said Ridgway, who picked the fifth round from 6 to 5 and 320 pounds. View draft after being chosen,And the ‘To break someone’s neck when I go out there.’
Well, this was a version of that.
Ridgway, 23, played for the University of Arkansas, which means Jerry Jones knows him well.
This is not only a great choice, but also a hell of a competitor,” said the Cowboys owner. “But it’s also a philosophical thing that feels good now that we have two of these big guys.”

The other “big guy” inside the Dallas D streak is a late rookie from last year, Quinton Bohana. It’s a 360-pounder, and if the plan works, the Cowboys will rotate as joggers-issuers.
or neck cutters. Figuratively, of course.
He was marketing merchandise featuring his nickname “vanilla gorilla,” said Ridgway, who wasn’t a doll.
So yeah, a marketing-minded kid would fit in perfectly with “Team America” — for better or worse. But this has to be about football first. Apparently, Ridgway realizes this, as he said earlier in this off-season.
He said, “I know what I’m capable of.” “I know there are a lot of people out there who like to talk about the negative aspects of my game, but I just try to focus on what I can control. This deals with people, you know? Making plays; that’s what I want to do. I’d rather talk rather than go out.” on the Internet or Twitter and start talking nonsense.”
Still… Ridgway is clearly not afraid to speak up. After a game earlier this year, Jones told he had to be recruited by Dallas so he could come here and “take charge.” (This full story here.) Now?
“I don’t plan on sitting in the back seat in the NFL,” Vanilla Gorilla recently said. “I’m planning on sitting in that driver’s seat and take off.”
On Thursday, it really “takes off”. to the locker room after his OTA “kicked out”.
