Grant Williams defends NSFW Draymond Green hymns for Celtics fans

One of the biggest storylines from the Warriors’ 116-100 loss to the Boston Celtics in Game 3 of the NBA Finals was the crowd at TD Garden on Wednesday night.

The Boston crowd in attendance was heard chanting “Draymond sucks” as well as “F – k you Draymond!”

Celtics striker Grant Williams defended the roaring crowd on Thursday after the team’s shootout, playing down the severity of the comments.

“It’s not the worst I’ve heard, I feel,” Williams told reporters. “Some of these hymns, you just accept them. Some people respond well to them, some embrace them, and some are ashamed of them.”

“I feel like the park fans don’t hold back. That’s what I love about them. They’ll be there for you on the plus side, and they’ll let you know if you’re doing something right or not. When we were losing last year, they were doing the same for us. So we respect it.”

Williams believes that the environment at the TD Garden provided the Celtics with a competitive advantage and explained what he believed should be the mindset for the opponent’s team in that environment.

“As a player for me, I love it because at the end of the day they do it for a reason,” Williams added. “So you either accept it, especially if you’re on the road, like you’re going to get that no matter where you go. You walk down the street, and you get something like that.”

“To me, it sounds like you should accept it. You better enjoy it and take it as a competitive advantage and use it against them. Next thing you know, run, shut them up, now you can talk trash.”

Coach Steve Kerr and Clay Thompson spoke out against inappropriate chants and Green himself admitted on the last episode of “The Draymond Green Show” that he let the atmosphere get in.

Warriors can certainly expect more of the same in Game 4 on Friday.
