Two weeks ago, it looked as if there was going to be a kick-off competition for the Minnesota Vikings between incumbent Greg Joseph and rookie rookie agent Gabi Brickic.
Well, if there is a competition, it will be decided quickly.
The Vikings have announced that Berkic has been waived, just two days after the team finished their mandatory mini-camp, the last time the team will be together before the start of training camp next month.
Brkic was a Lou Groza finalist with the Oklahoma Sooners in 2021, but he wasn’t able to get any real traction against Joseph. Brykic reportedly missed a few kicks during the last little camp while Josef was perfecting the kicker, so the team made a decision. . .at least for now. There’s nothing stopping the Vikings from bringing in another player like the competition between now and the start of training camp, but it would be at least a bit surprising if it did.
Brkic’s waiver means the Vikings roster has been reduced to 89 players. With kicking competition seemingly set, they could use this place to address another potential situation of need. after every thing. . The team may still need help on a court end and Kyle Rudolph still available, but that’s just a one-man suggestion.
