The wives and girlfriends of the England football team may be heading to Netflix. The streaming device is understood to be at an early stage of discussions with All3Media-owned Optomen TV about a reality series that will be filmed during the World Cup in Qatar later this year.
According to The Sun, which first broke the news, Optomen has contacted several of the England football stars’ partners – often referred to as WAGS (wives and girlfriends) in the British press – about appearing on the show.
The series will follow the women during England’s stay in Qatar for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in November and December, portraying their daily lives.
Among those who have reportedly been contacted love island The winner is Danny Dyer, who is dating striker Jarrod Bowen, Manchester City winger Sasha Atwood, and Anushka Santos, wife of defender Luke Shaw. The Sun claims that “extremely exorbitant fees” were introduced.
During the early to mid-2000s, the wives and girlfriends of England players were the subject of so many dramas that they created drama about the team during important matches, during an era when their every move was recorded by the media and many of them had their own reality shows.
Netflix declined to comment.
