Frank Seravalli of dailyfaceoff.com reports that John Tortorella and Barry Trotz are the nominees in Philadelphia. A lot of people around the NHL think Tortorella will land the job.
Blachel will land on his feet. He is well respected in the NHL, and has a lot of friends around the NHL. Blashill could end up as an assistant coach or coach. He and Tampa Bay Lightning coach John Cooper are friends. Lightning assistants are expected to be interviewed for key coaching jobs after the Stanley Cup Final.
The Florida Panthers just sacked two assistant coaches, and they haven’t said if coach Andrew Brunet is safe.
Sportsnet insider Elliot Friedman said he wouldn’t be surprised if Blachel became a candidate in Florida.
