Sounders vs Whitecaps, live stream: game time, TV schedule and lineup

The Seattle Sounders and the Vancouver Whitecaps renew the oldest competition in North American football history tonight. This will be the 147th time Cascadia’s rivals will face in competition, with the Sounders having an advantage of 71-50-25.

The Sounders have been particularly dominant in recent years, entering this match with an undefeated 14-game winning streak against the Whitecaps as they went 6-0-1 at Lumen Field. The White Caps last beat the Sounders anywhere on April 14, 2017 at PC Place and the last time they beat the Sounders was on March 19, 2016.

Having said that, the Whitecaps team is entering this game with some momentum. They are 4-1-1 in the past six league games. In four of those matches, the Whitecaps scored in the 90th minute or later to change the score.

The Sounders went into this international hiatus and started to rediscover the league format, having won 3 of 4 and were able to move into the playoffs with a win.

  • Raul Ruídias has six goals in seven meetings with the Whitecaps. Freddy Monteiro and Nicolas Lodeiro each scored five goals against the Whitecaps.
  • Whitecaps have three winners who came in the 90th minute or so. In their previous six seasons combined, they’ve only managed to do it twice.
  • This is the second of a five-game home franchise for the Sounders. They have gone 7-2-0 at Lumen Field in all competitions this year.
