Outlook Summary

When Oskar Blandowski researched an exploratory report on his progress in hockey, he never had to go very far. In fact, it is enough to go to the living room of the family home.

Ken Blandowski, Oscar’s father, is the amateur scouting manager for the NHL’s Arizona Coyotes.

“Believe me, I grew up with some very constructive criticism,” said Oskar Blandowski. “When I get it from the coaches, it’s not that bad. I’ve grown up being able to take the heat in the games.

“When I was much younger, I was more resentful or angry than (his father) when I was criticized. But in the long run, it is very helpful to have someone who knows the game so they can criticize me.”

Teams love to do their homework when they are selecting a draft. Delving into the player’s background and family relationship is part of the process. In Blandowski’s case, that task was easily accomplished by Steve Yzerman, general manager of Red Wings.

“His dad and I worked together in Tampa,” explained Laserman. “He was one of our chief scouts. I met Oscar when he was a little boy.”

Oscar could potentially fill an important need in the NHL roster. He is a defender from the right side.

“Obviously he’s a right shot, a very good skater, a good size, a very good skater, a good shot,” Isermann said of 6-foot-1, 190-pound Blandowski, 19. Right shot d. “

However, the attack does not appear to be part of Blandowski’s game. In 64 games this season with the Charlottetown Islanders of QMJHL, he has collected 4-13-17 totals. Last season saw him post 5-12-17 numbers in 39 games. She appeared in 15 playoffs this season as Charlottetown advanced to the Conference Finals, and Blandowski’s contribution was one goal.

Estimated time of arrival in Detroit

Plandowski’s abilities to skate and move the puck are the strengths of his game. The former should come as no surprise, since his mom, Jill, is a strength skating coach. Among her clients is Jared McKissack, another defensive potential from the Red Wings.

Scouting Report Oskar Blandowski provided “excellent skate, puck moving defenseman, puck ingenious, skillful hand to control the disc while gaining territory, use of hands and feet to open lanes, steady vision and puck dispenser”. By Dan Stewart of the Hockey Horizons Project.

Stewart also added a warning about Plandowski’s snowboarding abilities. “He can play some risk and take himself out of his position by being very aggressive at times, although his skate helps him recover a few times,” Stewart added. “Project puck is likely to be a wing drive.”

In all honesty, Plandowski’s battle will be tough for a role with the Red Wings. First, the team is already rich in defensive prospects. Second, as a fifth-round pick, historical statistical data shows he has a 17% chance of making the NHL.

He’s unlikely to even get serious interest in a NHL call before 2025.
