MCU star Vincent D’Onofrio shares a succinct review of Thor: Love and Thunder
Vincent D’Onofrio, who appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin in Netflix daredevil and Disney+ Hawk Eyegave Taika Waititi Thor: Love and Thunder its official stamp of approval.
D’Onofrio responded to the love and thunder director on Twitter, who thanked fans for coming to see the MCU movie in theaters. “This, this movie here. Love it,” D’Onofrio said in response to Waititi’s tweet.
Despite a significant drop in revenue – almost 68% – during its second weekend, Thor: Love and Thunder continues to do well at the box office, earning $45 million this past weekend. This brought the film’s total earnings to $232 million at the worldwide box office. It comes after the film grossed $143 million in domestic box office sales on its first release, a significant jump from its predecessor’s earnings. Thor: Ragnarok in 2017, which grossed $123 million in its opening weekend.

love and thunder follows Chris Hemsworth’s Thor as he attempts to thwart the murderous plans of Gorr the Butcher God, played by Christian Bale. Joining the God of Thunder is Jane Foster, played by Natalie Portman, who took on the role of Mighty Thor, along with Korg (Waititi) and Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson).
D’Onofrio last appeared as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin in the Disney+ series Hawk Eye, which followed Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton as he attempted to train Kate Bishop, played by Hailee Steinfeld, to take over as the new Hawkeye. D’Onofrio first appeared as the villainous crime boss in Netflix’s Marvel TV series, daredevila role he’ll play for three seasons until the show is canceled in 2019, along with the rest of Marvel’s Netflix shows, including Jessica Jones, Punisher, iron fist and Luke Cage. D’Onofrio took over the role of Hawk Eye on Disney+ and will appear again in the upcoming spin-off series, Echowhich will focus on Echo/Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox).
While the plot details surrounding Echo remain rare, recent rumors suggest Wilson Fisk’s role in the upcoming series will see him run for mayor of New York City. Whether or not those rumors are true, D’Onofrio’s confirmed role for the upcoming spin-off also confirms that Fisk survived his injuries in the series finale. Hawk Eyewho saw Echo shoot him and leave him for dead.
D’Onofrio has been open about his desire to continue playing Wilson Fisk in the MCU. “I really want it. There’s all these different facets,” D’Onofrio said in December 2021 of reprising the role. “The most interesting thing about this guy – and I think you can tell as we talk here – is what drives him. It’s complicated and cool in my mind.”
Echo doesn’t have a release date yet, but Hawk Eye and daredevil are both currently available on Disney+/
