Organized crime employee dies after being shot on set

“We were terribly saddened and shocked to learn that one of our crew members was the victim of a crime early this morning and died as a result,” said a spokesperson for NBC and Universal Television. Our thoughts are with his family and friends and we ask that you respect their privacy during this time. »
The victim, who was 31 at the time of his death, was a parking enforcement officer, according to police reports. He was sitting in a car on the show’s New York set in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, around 5:15 a.m. when he was shot. Forty-five minutes later, after being rushed to hospital, he was pronounced dead. The man has not yet been identified pending notification of the family, per Deadline. Production was halted for the rest of the day.
The tragedy happened two months before the premiere of the procedural drama’s third season, which is slated to air in September.
The spin-off series presents Christopher Meloni as Detective Elliott Stabler (in a crossover role of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit) and Danielle Moné Truitt as Sergeant Ayanna Bell. Ainsley Seiger, Dylan McDermott, Mike Canon, Rachel Lin, Ellyn Burstein and more so star. Stabler’s right-hand man, Captain Olivia Benson – who was portrayed by SVU conduct Mariska Hargitay for more than 20 years — appeared in 10 episodes of the spin-off.
The show’s premise revolves around Stabler’s new position with the Organized Crime Task Force, where he desperately searches for his wife’s killers.
Meloni, 61, originally released SVU after season 12 of 2011 and has no regrets. In terms of how much he missed the show – on which he played Stabler for 13 years – the Washington, DC native revealed: “Zero.”
“I would have no problem admitting it. But I was pleasantly surprised it turned out so well,” said the actor, who later starred in true blood and The Handmaid’s TaleTold Weekly entertainment in 2021. “I have to say the decade since has been everything I could have hoped for.”

“When [L&O creator Dick Wolf] launched this more serialized expression of his latest idea of a Law and order show, the COI really thought it was some kind of stroke of genius,” the Steel man star revealed during the TCA Summer Press Tour in September 2021. “I didn’t even think it was something he was thinking about. I was pleasantly delighted, surprised and excited when I received the pitch and it was purely based on the type of storytelling that the CO allows us. I just think it allows for a little more in-depth analysis of characters and relationships and that sort of thing.
As soon as he put on his beloved character’s badge, Meloni said EOhe immediately knew he was back where he was meant to be.
“It was awesome, a surprising sense of freedom,” the NBC star shared. “It was a very interesting feeling because I rarely get it. It was just kind of a weird sign that everything was fine, and I was where I belonged.
