Sabrina Carpenter Wore the Craziest Bodysuit in Her ‘Because I Loved a Boy’ Music Video
If you haven’t listened to Sabrina Carpenter’s new album yet, what are you doing?! The singer (and girly fashion, and fragrance designer) has released her fifth studio album titled emails that I cannot send on July 15, and let’s just say we’re getting very intimate with this one – so prepare to be fully in your feelings alongside Sabrina.
The singer delves into the most intimate details of her private life, from love confusion in “Read your Mind” to relationship regrets in “Tornado Warnings” and toxic exes in “Vicious.” There’s even one specific song that has a little shoutout to Olivia Rodrigo called “because I loved a boy” — Sabrina never directly names the “Driver’s License” singer. Still, there are plenty of lyrics pointing fans towards the love triangle drama that exploded online last year.
For example, “we bonded over the Black Eyed Peas and complicated exes” could easily be a subtle reference to the complications of Olivia’s very public relationship with Joshua Bassett, and “was he just trying to keep you near you while your heart failed” could be a mention of Joshua’s stress-induced heart failure following the release of Olivia’s debut album. The lyric “when it all fell apart, we had already broken up” fit the timeline of Sabrina and Joshua’s shorter relationship that eventually came to an end as the love triangle chatter continued online. Sabrina *addressed the speculation surrounding “because I loved a boy” in an interview with rolling stone where she said she was “no longer in that exact spot”.
Sabrina handled the death threats she received throughout the past year with grace and poise, turning her experience into a visual masterpiece in the ‘Because I Loved a Boy’ music video. . The track is such an explosive song, so you know Sabrina came slaying in the music video – and she did, not in one or two but five looks.
The clip opens with Sabrina descending on an aerial hoop, wearing a silky cream corset and a teal fringed scarf draped around her arms. Her crossed legs show off bling-out heels, and the drip is completed with a statement necklace and heavy, shiny earrings.
Sabrina’s second look made all our (well, all my) milkmaid aesthetic dreams come true – the singer is pictured exploring a romantic circus scene in a draped off-the-shoulder cream dress with a corset top with pretty red bows and soft lace detailing. Sabrina wears a chunky silver heart-shaped necklace and her hair is tied back in a half-up, half-down style.
Sabrina channels an Old Hollywood glam aesthetic with her third look, a strapless red corset with a sarong-style belt tied around her hips to create the illusion of a mini dress. She wears silky gloves and a heavy, shimmery choker with her hair styled in soft waves. Strappy black heels complete the bombshell look – consider us obsessed.
Arguably her biggest killer is the head-to-toe sparkly bodysuit she transforms into midway through the music video. The exact look is Angel Brinks’ “Tempress” bodysuit, designed by Ronnie Hart, and technically, you could pick one up for yourself — if you’ve got $695 to drop. 🤷♀️ While it might not be affordable, it’s definitely drool-worthy. Sabrina completed the studded bodysuit with a sparkling headpiece, large statement necklace and face gemstones.
Sabrina’s last look in this music video isn’t shown for very long, but it absolutely kills in the little screen time it receives. The femme fatale energy is real as Sabrina poses against a spinning target riddled with knives, wearing a black corset with clipped thigh-high stockings and short black gloves. It should be illegal to look this good.
