Slipknot Drop ‘The Dying Song (Time to Sing)’ Announces New Album
The moment you’ve all been waiting for has finally arrived – Slipknot have released a brand new track titled “The Dying Song (Time to Sing)” and announced their upcoming seventh studio album. The end, so far.
“The Dying Song (Time to Sing)” begins like no Slipknot song has ever begun before. Corey Taylor sings a few a cappella lines before singing “Die” over and over, then the band erupts in jaw-dropping brutality in typical Slipknot fashion. The song’s accompanying video features a kaleidoscope-like visual perspective, as if the band are performing inside a fun house.
“New music, new art and new beginnings. Get ready for the end,” Clown said in a press release.
A little over a year ago, Clown called this new album “music from God” and “center of the beast” for him. Additionally, he confirmed that it would be their last with Roadrunner Records.
After teasing “the beginning of the end” earlier today on Twitter with a mysterious music video, their fans were almost freaked out in the replies section, speculating what “the end” might be. All we know for now is that the album is called The end so far (see what we did there?), it’s out September 30th on Roadrunner and their fall 2021 single “The Chapeltown Rag” is included in it.
The end so far follows Knot’s 2019 album We are not your type. You can pre-order/save it here now. See album art, track listing and video for “The Dying Song (Time to Sing)” below.
You can dig deeper into the song and its meaning by checking out the lyrics and finding out which members also released new masks with the new music. And be sure to see what Maggots has to say about “The Dying Song (Time to Sing)” in our fan reaction post.
You can also see the band on the road with Ice Nine Kills and Crown the Empire for their Knotfest Roadshow just days before the record is released – buy tickets here.
