There’s no better time than during the Marvel Studios Animation Panel and no better place than San Diego Comic-Con for Marvel Studios & Disney+ to unveil the official trailer for I am Groot. Directed by Executive Producer Kirsten Lepore and premiering August 10, the series of original shorts will focus on Baby Groot’s growing-up time and his adventures across the galaxy. The anime series is the second ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ related project streaming fans can look forward to this year, with james gunnit is Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is expected to hit the streamer later this year (but more on that in a minute).
Set to hit streaming screens August 10th, here’s a look at the official trailer from Marvel Studios & Disney+ I am Groot:
In the past, Gunn has pointed out that Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special will be a “TV special” not a short – and for those of you thinking “Star Wars Holiday Special”, you should know that Gunn loved it as a kid (so do we). The concept behind the special is something Gunn wrote as a treatment “years ago” but finished the script in April 2021. As for when the special in canon will take place on the GotG calendar, it will be fixed between Thor: Love and Thunder and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. And then in an interview with Collider in support of The Suicide SquadGunn went into more detail about why when it airs (and where it is on the timeline) matters, and first revealed plans to film it while filming GotG3.
“It’s in canon, it’s about Guardians, you’re going to learn things you need to learn before volume 3, and it’s awesome, I’m really happy with that,” he explained. . Gunn will also double production, with the special being filmed at the same time as the movie. “I’m going to shoot it at the same time as the movie. I’m using a lot of the same sets, the same actors obviously, so we’re shooting at the same time as the movie but it’s going to have to be edited and finished earlier,” Gunn revealed. .
