New book alleges Meghan Markle accused Victoria Beckham of leaking stories to the press
Tom Bower’s new book Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the war between the Windsors is heavy on the (alleged) bombshells – with one in particular involving another of the world’s most famous couples: David and Victoria Beckham.
The Beckhams were just two of the celebrities invited to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s star-studded wedding in 2018, but they apparently fell out after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex accused the Beckhams of leaking stories to their subject to the press, says Bower in his new book, out this week.
Bower claims the Sussexes became ‘addicted’ to reading about themselves in the media and feared their secrets would leak to the British press through their famous friends, for We— and obsessively tried to figure out who the mole in their inner circle might be.
“Harry and Meghan were chained together,” Bower writes. “Every night they scoured the internet to read the trolls’ newspaper articles and social media posts. Irrationally, they lumped the two together and fueled each other’s media frenzy. Convinced that as champions of good they were persecuted by lies and racism, they felt victimized by the slightest criticism.
Meghan reportedly “suspected Victoria Beckham of indiscretion,” Bower wrote, with the author also noting that “Harry’s instability fueled Meghan’s fears that friends leaked stories to the media.” The mirror reports. Meghan’s reported accusation against Victoria led to a tense phone call between Harry and David, according to the book.
“Harry called David Beckham to repeat the accusation,” Bower wrote. “Outraged, Beckham’s truthful denials have damaged their relationship.
While it’s unclear exactly when this tense phone call took place, The sun reported in 2020 that David “quickly got Harry straightened out, and both men agreed to move on, but that certainly made things awkward for a while.” A malaise that apparently continues to this day: The mirror reports that the pair had an ‘awkward encounter’ during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee last month.
