The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power blew off the roof of Hall H at Comic-Con 2022, and if that makes you want to know more, the show is now on the cover of Total Film magazine. The epic TV series is coming to Prime Video in September, and while there will be some familiar faces, including a young Galadriel and Elrond, and the score will feature a Howard Shore theme alongside new material created by Bear McCreary, the show will venture into uncharted territory in terms of aspects of Tolkien’s world still seen on screen.
Set in the time before the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogy, it explores the “Second Age” of Middle-earth, inspired by the book appendixes. JD Payne and Patrick McKay serve as showrunners, and this first series is just the beginning: we’re at the start of a five-season journey.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will be released on Prime Video in September 2022, and the new issue of Total Film (opens in a new tab) has you covered with the full story of the epic enterprise, considered the most expensive television production in history. He leads a wave of high-profile shows that also feature in the TF special, including She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Andor, The Sandman, House of the Dragon and more.
