What The Walking Dead’s Future Looks Like After Comic-Con 2022
After 11 seasons, The Walking Dead The TV show will soon be coming to an end, but there’s a lot on the horizon for franchise enthusiasts, especially after the San Diego Comic-Con 2022 advertisement. At one point, The Walking Dead was unquestionably the most popular show on linear television, dominating its competition on cable and also outpacing the biggest hits on broadcast networks. While it was a long time ago now, The Walking Dead is still one of the most-watched shows, despite mocking claims from its detractors about how it should have ended a long time ago.
The Walking Dead may not be the juggernaut it was in its heyday, but it’s no wonder AMC has no plans to exit the Walking Dead business or really end his story. It’s one of the few shows that still feels like a date, and almost requires watching live in order to avoid spoilers. Whereas The Walking Dead flagship program draws to a close, AMC is betting that the millions who still tune in regularly will take their fandom to the parade of sequels and spinoffs on the horizon.
AMC’s commitment to The Walking Dead franchise was in full effect at San Diego Comic-Con 2022, with the network showcasing its ever-expanding lineup of shows under the ensemble Walking Dead umbrella. This now includes a limited series summarizing the story of Rick and Michonne, as that story will no longer be told on the big screen as originally intended. Here’s what the future of Walking Dead the franchise looks like after Comic-Con 2022.
The Walking Dead season 11
After more than a decade and over 150 episodes, The Walking Dead Season 11 begins its final chapter on October 2, with Comic-Con 2022 featuring a trailer for the show’s climactic finale. Season 11 saw a lot of changes happen, with Maggie’s return as a regular cast member, her reluctant alliance with Negan, big time jumps, disputed loyalties, major character deaths, and… introduction of dangerous bands like The Commonwealth and The Reapers. With Daryl, Maggie, Aaron, Gabriel, Negan and their comrades now firmly on a war footing with Lance Hornsby, Pamela Milton and The Commonwealth, The Walking Dead Season 11 Part 3 looks set to deliver all the action, violence, and gore viewers have come to expect. As teased on The Walking Dead: World Beyondfaster and smarter zombies are also added to the mix.
fear the walking dead season 8
Fear the living dead recently wrapped season 7, but season 8 is already in the works and is set to debut in 2022. The final episodes of season 7 saw the startling revelation that former frontman thought dead Madison Clark (Kim Dickens ) actually survived the explosion that apparently killed her and had since started working for the collective villain PADRE. As season 8 approaches, Morgan and Madison are now tasked with retrieving Morgan’s adopted daughter, Mo, from the sinister clutches of PADRE. Unlike its ancestor, Fear the living dead gave no indication that it will end soon.
Tales of the Living Dead
Comic-Con 2022 has provided a trailer for Tales of the Living Deadwho will see The Walking Dead jump on the episodic anthology bandwagon in a way similar to what American Horror Stories is of american horror story. Premiere August 14 Tales of the Living DeadThe first season of is expected to consist of six episodes, each focusing on different characters, most of whom are new to the franchise and played by recognizable actors like Terry Crews, Olivia Munn, and Parker Posey. Samantha Morton’s Alpha, who returns in an episode that examines her transformation from a relatively normal woman named Dee into the savage Chief Whisperer, is also featured in flashbacks. There is a lot of potential for several seasons of Tales of the Living Deadespecially when it comes to bringing back dead favorites.
Daryl’s spin-off from The Walking Dead
The Walking DeadDaryl’s most popular character will get his own showcase when Daryl Dixon’s next spin-off debuts on AMC. Norman Reedus is of course back in the lead role in the as-yet-untitled Daryl spin-off, which was originally set to focus on both Daryl and Carol. That changed when actress Melissa McBride chose to leave the project and take a break after more than a decade playing Carol. That said, Reedus mentioned at Comic-Con 2022 that Daryl and Carol’s story together isn’t over, seemingly leaving the door open for McBride to finally come home. This spin-off probably has the best chance of taking over because the Walking Dead franchise’s main program, essentially serving as an extension of the original show.
Isle of the Dead
After a season spent as reluctant allies, Negan and Maggie seem to have somewhat settled into the idea that they’re on the same side now, though there will likely never be any tension there. Especially given Hershel’s understandable anger that Negan killed his father. Negan and Maggie’s relationship will be explored in more detail in the spin-off Isle of the Dead, which sees the two hardened survivors heading to Manhattan in New York for reasons so far undisclosed. Stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan actually missed Comic-Con 2022, but that was likely due to filming on Isle of the Dead starting recently. This will actually be the third TV show in which Morgan and Cohan have played major roles, although their characters have never interacted. Supernatural. They also played Bruce Wayne’s parents in batman v superman flashbacks.
The Walking Dead Rick & Michonne Limited Series
While some Walking Dead enthusiasts are indeed disappointed that plans to give Rick Grimes a theatrical film showcase have been canceled, it’s probably for the best as of Comic-Con 2022 Andrew Lincoln’s planned trilogy of films starring Rick has been turned into a television spin-off. Translating a popular TV show to the big screen is often difficult because audiences are reluctant to pay for something they’ve always gotten for free – or, in the case of The Walking Dead, as part of their cable TV package. For now, the Rick and Michonne spinoff is expected to consist of six episodes, though the door is likely open for more if Lincoln and Danai Gurira want to keep coming back. For now, the actual story here is under wraps, but a 2023 premiere is expected.
