Kristin Cavallari says she would be canceled today
“I said stupid things.”
If you’re over a certain age, you’ve probably watched a lot of Laguna Beach when it aired on MTV in the 2000s.
One of the biggest stars of the hit reality show was Kristin Cavallari, who also starred in the spin-off The hills (which, let’s be real, you’ve probably watched too).
Kristin was 17 when she first appeared in Laguna Beach — so, naturally, she has regrets about the things she said on the show, as well as the way she behaved.
During a recent episode of his podcast Back to the beach with Kristin and Stephen, Kristin told her co-host – former costar and ex-boyfriend Stephen Coletti – that she gave herself an “F” for the way she behaved during the show’s second episode.
“I said stupid things,” she said. “I looked like a little brat. I’d say that wasn’t my best episode for sure.”
Kristin specifically referenced a scene in which she used an ableist slur to refer to the salad dressing she made for dinner.
“I mean, I feel like I would be canceled for something like this today,” she said.
Stephen agreed, saying “we all look back on some of these things that we say and, you know, shake our heads.”
Kristin also said that the hardest part of reviewing Laguna Beach is “hear how I fucking talk” and that watching the first season when it aired prepared her to compete in the show’s second season.
“I will say that I went into Season 2 with a very different mindset,” she explained. “Because, you know, you don’t know much while you’re filming the season, what’s going to happen, how it’s going to be edited.”
“And then when you see it, you’re like, ‘Wow, okay. That’s what they’re doing.'”
