Teen Mom’s Mackenzie McKee and Josh McKee Split Again After 12 Years Together
Mackenzie McKee is ready to start a new chapter as a single mother.
the old OG teen mom star announced on July 26 that she and Josh McKee divorced after 12 years together.
“With all the messages I’m getting and articles coming out, I wanted you to hear what’s going on from me alone,” she wrote on Instagram. “Sometimes things work out and sometimes no matter how hard you fight, it just doesn’t. I break my silence about Josh and I’m done… It’s time for me to find my happiness.”
In a statement to Celebrity Buzz, the 27-year-old reiterated her goal of not speaking ill of her ex. Instead, she expressed her excitement about stepping into a whole new life.
“The old me would have posted a horror story about Josh, what he did and why this marriage is ending,” she said. “The new me understands that we both walk away from this with deep scars and that our children love us both despite the pain we’ve inflicted on each other. We’re human, we’re all human on this earth, just trying to do.”
teen mom Status Check: Which Couples Are Still Together?
The couple, who are parents of Gannonten, Jaxie8, Broncs5, first documented their romance on MTV 16 and pregnant in 2011. More recently, they appeared on OG teen mom where the couple tackled cheating and infidelity rumors.
Things got so tense for the couple that they briefly separated in 2019. They reconciled months later after Josh surprised his wife with a birthday proposal.
As for what caused their latest breakup, Mackenzie said she wasn’t ready to divulge specific details. As she explained, “Giving details about why we ended just isn’t fair if he’s not by my side to say his point of view.”
“Was I the perfect wife? No,” she continued. “But I’m not claiming that Josh was a good husband either.”
Going forward, Mackenzie said she wishes “nothing but peace and happiness” to her ex-husband. She also hopes to keep her personal family life a little more private.
“Do I even want to talk about this dead time in my life? No,” she explained. “But people have been following us for over a decade now…I just wanted to share our update and ask people to understand that we are two people who didn’t work and human like the rest of the world. No need to ‘investigate Why.’
