Tom Sandoval Makes Music “Bigger” Than ‘Pump Rules’ Co-Stars
Tom Sandoval says he makes music “bigger” than his “Vanderpump Rules” co-stars — and he says it in the most literal sense.
“I would say what I’m doing is more production and that’s why it’s called Tom Sandoval & the Most Extras because we’re f-king extra as fk,” he told Page Six in exclusive Saturday night after the resumption of his cover band. last concert.
The enormity of his act was on full display at The Canyon in Agoura Hills, Calif., where Tom Sandoval and more extras performed to a packed house as cameras rolled for season 10.
The group consists of 10 musicians, the most recent being a trombonist.
Longtime love of Sandoval, Ariana Madix, and other ‘Pump Rules’ names – including best friend/business partner Tom Schwartz, Scheana Shay, Katie Maloney and James Kennedy, who served as pre-show DJ — cheered him on for his live debut of the group’s first original single, “Superstars.”
“I’m really, really proud of this song. It was originally more electronic and I kind of integrated it into that whole band experience,” the 39-year-old said of the Daft Punk and Foster the People-inspired funk-pop track.
“I love its dimension, its depth, its layers,” Sandoval explained, also revealing that “Superstars” will likely be released in the next few months.
Comparing his work to that of Shay, 37, Kennedy, 30 and Lala Kent – who have blessed the Bravo fandom with hits such as “Good as Gold”, “Get Loose” and “Boy”, respectively – Sandoval said his self-awareness, along with an affinity for retro jamming, sets him apart.
“Obviously Lala, James, Scheana… they made more original music. Look, I’m on a reality show, let’s be real. Me coming in and people coming out and wanting to listen to, like, 12 original songs by me? Is it really a draw? he said, adding with a laugh, “Do I really want people to experience this?”
On the contrary, Sandoval enjoys giving fans lively renditions of classics from the 80s, 90s and 2000s. Saturday night viewers notably lost him when he and The Most Extras burst into Panic! At the Disco smash in 2006 “I write sins, not tragedies”.
“That’s the best thing about being in a cover band is that people don’t have to come out and be on my shit,” he told us. -he says. “They can be in their favorite songs, you know?”
If the Schwartz & Sandy co-founder decides to make more music, then he’d love to jump into the recording studio with his girlfriend Madix, 37, who is apparently a gifted singer.
“Ariana has an amazing, really good voice,” he gushed. “Like, she can sing almost anything. She is so good.
Whether or not a musical collaboration between the pair airs on the next episode of “Pump Rules,” Sandoval told Page Six that the show’s flagship season is shaping up to be one of the best yet.
“We’ve been through the thick of it,” he said, specifically applauding Schwartz, 39, and Maloney, 35, for sharing the aftermath of their split with viewers.
“Every one of them put themselves forward,” he said. “Whether [the cast is] currently getting along or not, I at least respect them at the end of the day for really showing off.
Bravo has yet to announce a premiere date for “Vanderpump Rules” Season 10.
