When Jenner told Instagram to “stop trying to be TikTok,” it seemed to warrant a response from app manager Adam Mosseri. It’s not surprising. After all, when Jenner declared Snapchat over in 2018, its stock plummeted and it lost $1.3 billion with its social currency as the top trending app.

One of the main complaints of the Make Instagram Instagram Again petition with Instagram is that, as Meta always does, it has pivoted towards video and away from photos. Another request is the return of chronological timelines, which have been determined by algorithms over the past few years.
According to Later, a study of 81 million Instagram posts found that the engagement rate for feed posts, excluding video content like Reels and IGTV, has declined by 44% since 2019.
Jenner posted, “Make Instagram on Instagram again. (Stop trying to be TikTok, I just want to see cute pictures of my friends.) Sincerely, everyone. The Instagram story was captured by a reporter Frank Pallotta on Twitter.
Mosseri responded to the criticism but also hinted that Instagram would continue to invest in the video.
“The second thing I hear a lot about is photos and how we’re transitioning to video. Now I want to be clear that we’re going to continue to support photos,” Mosseri said. said. “Having said that, I believe more and more of Instagram is going to go video over time.”
