This amazingly lively collecting game is available for free

The end of summer is approaching more and more… but we don’t need to think about it! Instead, let’s play this dream game where you collect items that wash up on the beach and then use them to build musical instruments.

Fill this beautiful world with music

ocean resonance is a beautifully animated game where you collect items that wash up on the beach and use them to craft instruments. Created by Image Labo and Heaviside Creations, the game trailer shows off its beautiful graphics and understated color scheme. If that sounds like the kind of peaceful, relaxing game you want to play, well, you’re in luck; it is available for free on Itch.io and Steam now in English.

I’m obsessed with this creepy sanctuary of souls

Haunti is described by its team as a “lo-fi twin-stick shooter” where you play as a ghost venturing through eternity. The development of the game seems to be moving forward, as developer Light Return posted a video of a character walking through an area that appears to be a sprawling shrine. The game has this cool two-tone look, and I’m curious to see what a casual twin-stick looks like, so it’s definitely on my radar.

The cutest menu I’ve ever seen

I love watching all the ways developers manage to incorporate character into their games. This title is called Tipston’s Recovery, and it’s a cooperative game where you manage a heist. Everything in the game is cooperative, including its menu. The developer posted a clip which showed a player switching between menus while the other levels selected between each submenu. It’s an adorable concept and something I hope to see more of in games as developers play with the mechanics creatively. There is no release date yet, but for more information, you can check the game’s Steam page.

Grapple boarding? Grapple boarding

Some developers just mess around with all kinds of gameplay. Here we see a character using a combination of a sandboard and grappling hook to get around. From what we see in the video, grapple boarding looks super slick and it’s a fun way to get around. Developer Asarge posts all kinds of digital experiences on Twitter, so you can learn more work there.

A magical and dreamlike game

Alex Dixon posts many videos of their work. Much of what they share has this serene, dreamy feel. Previous clips show Dixon’s talent for create tranquil forest scenes, but it seems that’s not all Dixon has done. This latest clip retains the relaxed feel of their previous work, but shows a character interacting with the environment by creating a gust of wind. You can see more Dixon’s work on Twitter.
