Prince William posts surprise video message with Princess Charlotte and she’s dressed as mum Kate Middleton
Royal fans woke up to a fun surprise today when they found out Prince William and Princess Charlotte have made a brand new video together.
The Duke of Cambridge, 40, posted the Instagram video to the joint account he shares with his wife, Kate Middleton, also 40.
In the short clip, we get a glimpse of William and his only daughter, Princess Charlotte, 7, cuddled up and delivering a special message to the Lionesses, England’s women’s national football team, who will face Germany in final today.
In the video, William says, “We both want to wish the Lionesses good luck for tonight. You’ve been incredibly good in the competition and we’ve got your back until the end.”
Charlotte, who looked very adult, then said, “Good luck. Hope you win. Goodbye.” Oh, and she then gives her signature Charlotte wave. NBD.
This message, while surprising as we get a glimpse of the young royal, shouldn’t come as too much of a shock to those who follow the Duke’s social media accounts closely. William posted personal messages several times for the Lionesses ahead of the final.
How did we know the posts were “personal” to the Duke and not just written by his social media handlers? Because they featured his unique signature, of course.
William and Charlotte’s interest in sports has been known to the public for some time. After all, he is president of the Football Association (FA) in England. He has held the post, which was previously held by his late grandfather Prince Philip, since 2006. And when the Duke visited the Lionesses in June, they presented him with three football shirts with the names of his children at the back. When he saw Charlotte’s, he mentioned she was a “budding star for the future,” saying she wanted him to tell the team she’s a good goalie.
But eagle-eyed royal fans probably also noticed a nod to Charlotte’s mother, Kate, in the new video. The Cambridge midfielder wears a polka dot outfit that looks a lot like the one Middleton wore at Wimbledon this year.
In fact, the Duchess of Cambridge wore polka dots a huge eleven times in recent memory, making it clear that the pattern is one of his favorites. Charlotte clearly shares an affinity for polka dot fashion.
What a pleasure to see Charlotte follow in the footsteps of William and Kate on the same day.
