WWE SummerSlam 2022 preview: Liv Morgan vs. Ronda Rousey
Liv Morgan defends the Smack down Women’s Championship vs. Ronda Rousey in Tonight’s Singles Match (Saturday, July 30, 2022) WWE Slam summer pay-per-view (PPV) from Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee.
Fan favorite Liv Morgan shocked the world when she won the Smack down Women’s Championship earlier this month at Money in the bank. She cashed in her Money in the Bank contract and pinned an injured Ronda Rousey to bring home the gold. Ronda graciously accepted the loss and was generally very positive about how Morgan rose to the occasion and took advantage of his injury.
The baddest woman on the planet gets her rematch tonight, and this time she fights 100% healthy. Given Rousey’s dominant WWE and UFC history, that means Liv Morgan is a massive underdog at Slam summer.
WWE leaned into this underdog narrative for this battle of babyfaces. For example, Ronda made quick work of Natalya in a two-minute match on the July 8 episode of Smack downwhile Morgan struggled and took almost 10 minutes to finally beat Natalya a week later.
Morgan then attempted to carry the charge in a tag team match with Ronda against Natalya and Sonya Deville on the July 29 episode of Smack downbut Ronda ultimately had to score himself and win the game for their team.
Ronda summed it up appropriately in a one-on-one segment when she confidently said the following words to Liv: “I’m going to beat you at SummerSlam. Because let’s be honest, you’re Liv Morgan and I’m Ronda Rousey.
The thing is, Liv Morgan has no prayers against Ronda Rousey. And that’s exactly why I expect Morgan to somehow find a way out of Slam summer with gold around her waist. A win for Rousey is all too obvious in kayfabe at this point, and that’s pro wrestling, where underdogs overcome the odds at an unnatural rate.
How will Liv go about it? A clean pin on Ronda doesn’t seem likely. Could this be the night Bayley and/or Charlotte Flair return to WWE and interfere in this match?
