“It made me re-evaluate my friendship”
Chance the Rapper says he still loves Kanye West, despite being the target of one of his outbursts.
In a recent appearance on The morning bustle, Chano was asked about a leaked video circulating that captured a tense moment between him and Ye in Wyoming. The images would have been part of a donda-Focused documentary directed by Dame Dash.
“Sit back and listen to the album or go,” Kanye shouts at his fellow rapper from Chi-Town.
The clip included an interview with Dash, which shed some light on the situation. The Roc-A-Fella co-founder said the incident happened during a donda recording session, around the time Kanye was making headlines for his erratic and disturbing antics.
“So, you know, Kanye is finishing his album and there are people around. Luck, honestly, because of what he was reading, he just came over to check on Kanye,” Dame says in the clip. “You know, again, Kanye deals with his issues at all times. They got into it, but they succeeded. At the end of the day, Chance was there just to be a friend.
Although he didn’t reveal what made Ye go wild, Chance said The morning bustle that the video didn’t tell “the whole story”.
“It’s a clip from a bigger moment, like no one will ever get the full story of what’s going on,” he explained. “And yeah, people pick it up and run with it, because I’ve seen some people put, like, fake captions under the video to make it look like it was about my music or something. But in to be honest this is real life i have real friends and they are going through real problems.
Chance said many people took the music video and “exploited” an “authentic moment”.
“I came there to check on my friend,” he said. “I and a lot of other people still have love for Ye. But he’s a human, he’s not perfect. He was visibly going through him at the time… It made me re-evaluate my friendship with him, for sure. I had never been so close to him during an episode.
“…At the end of the day, I definitely like the guy. He’s my guy,” he continued. “It sucks that sometimes people can exploit a moment that’s a genuine moment.”
