‘Ferris Bueller’ actress Edie McClurg victim of elder abuse, family claims

Latest / August 2, 2022 / Admin / 0

The family of actress Edie McClurg have claimed she was the victim of child abuse.

In court documents seen by The Post, the family of the ‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Off’ star – who lives in Los Angeles and suffers from dementia – alleges she was abused by a man claiming to be a “longtime friend “who would have tried to take her out of California to marry her.

The documents – filed in California State Superior Court – name the alleged attacker as Michael L. Ramos, who has allegedly lived at the 76-year-old Los Angeles home since 2017.

According to the documents, Ramos is unemployed and pays no rent or expenses and was able to “sneak” into McClurg’s life, apparently trying to get her out of California to marry him despite her diagnosis of dementia.

The documents also claim that Ramos allegedly “sexually assaulted” McClurg’s current caregiver, with a police report filed with the LAPD. Additionally, the carer was “worried” that Ramos “is or may be assaulting the curator and may not even know it is happening to her,” according to court documents.

McClurg and Ramos “were never involved [in] a romantic relationship,” with the Guardian now fearing he sexually abused the actress.

They reported that he wanted to marry her out of state when he knew she “lacks capacity” and was living in his house for “companionship”, which the guardianship judge had allowed.

McClurg is under conservatorship and was granted protection by a judge – according to the documents – who ordered Ramos “not to enter into a valid marriage” with McClurg.

The conservatorship lawyer – who has been in place since 2019 – is now reportedly seeking an order to remove Ramos from the legal arrangement altogether.

McClurg’s family reportedly went to court in 2019 to seek the legal settlement, claiming she was living with a male companion who was verbally abusive and tried to influence the handling of her estate by having her sign documents.

A 2019 neuropsychological assessment report obtained by The Post said McClurg “suffers from a progressive and irreversible neurodegenerative disorder.” The report described past instances in which McClurg was allegedly exploited, including by a married contractor who carried out work at her home and then allegedly “continued to live” in her home, claiming to be “her boyfriend.” The contractor’s wife reportedly “started calling the patient and even stalking him” before McClurg’s cousin, Angelique Cabral, intervened.

The assessment also noted that McClurg was allegedly “befriended” by Ramos in 2012 or 2013.

Cabral was named his guardian and filed the emergency petition on July 14 to remove Ramos from McClurg’s home.

Ramos filed an objection to the emergency motion with his statement, denying that he sexually assaulted or abused McClurg or his caretaker.

McClurg has over 200 acting credits and appeared in such iconic films as “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” and “Planes, Trains and Automobiles” and did voice-over work in “The Little Mermaid”, “A Bug’s Life”, “Cars” and “The Rugrats Movie.”
