“I will always be champion for her”
Jo Koy embraces his friendship with ex-girlfriend Chelsea Handler.
As he attended the carpet for his new film Easter SundayKoy, 51, shared where he and Handler, 47, are at after their split last month.
“We’re great friends and it will always be that way,” Koy said. entertainment tonight. “I will always be champion for her and she will always be champion for me – and we are going to win, everyone wins.”
The comedian also added that being friends again was “great.” He explained to the outlet, “It’s always been like this, so that’s the next chapter.”

This isn’t the first time the actor has opened up about the former couple’s renewed friendship. Right after last month’s break, Koy spoke to TMZ about how they were doing.
“It’s okay. We’re taking a break,” Koy said. “We’re great friends, we’ve always been great friends. The love is still there.”

When asked if the two exes were still in touch, Koy replied, “Yeah…but all the love. That’s it.” He later refrained from revealing who ended the relationship, calling it a “private” matter.
Koy was also asked if he was ready to “jump into the dating pool”. At that, Koy laughed and said he was “just going to focus on this movie right now”.

Handler announced the couple’s split on Instagram on July 18, sharing a video that was set to be posted on their first anniversary.
“It is with heavy hearts that we announce that we have decided together that it is best for us to take a break from our relationship right now,” the former said. chelsea host wrote. “I know many of you have been invested in our love, and I wanted to tell you how much it meant to both of us. How much it still means. And how much I now believe in love for each of us. This man m ‘opened the heart with love and because of it, my life experience changed forever.”
She continued, “Being loved and adored by @jokoy has been one of the greatest gifts of my life. He has renewed my faith in men, in love, in being 100% who I am. am, and I have never been so optimistic about the future.”

The best-selling author said Koy “ignited my creativity, my desire to work hard again, to be on the road again.” Handler also credited Koy for “reminding me of who I was and always have been.”
“It’s not an end. It’s another beginning, and it’s comforting to know that I’m still loved and I love this man like the sun loves the moon and the moon loves the sun. YOUR PERSON HAPPEN,” she concluded. “So please continue to support us both, because you never know what life has in store for you and let’s first start by all going to the theater on August 5th to buy tickets for the new movie of Jo. Easter Sunday and Filipino PRIDE! Let’s go!”

In his own post on the breakup, Koy said the former couple will “always remain great friends and always have love for each other.”
“I’m her biggest fan and I can’t wait for you all to see what she has in store for us in the future,” he added. “Keep killing Chelsea! Mahal kita!”

A mutual friend introduced Handler and Koy over 20 years ago. Thereafter, Koy would go on to make frequent appearances on Handler’s E! late night series Chelsea latelyaired from 2007 to 2014.
The couple sparked dating rumors in September 2021 after they were spotted getting cozy at a Los Angeles Dodgers game. Handler confirmed their relationship later that month, sharing a photo of the two kissing on Instagram. She later called Koy “the best boyfriend” she ever had.
Handler has since called the couple’s breakup “painful.”
“I feel, you know, optimistic about the future now,” she said on the We can do hard things with Glennon Doyle podcast last month. “I’ve changed so much and my love was so great it blew me away. And as painful as the end of something like this is, I know therapy so well and understand that every door that closes is a new beginning and I believe it.”
Easter Sunday opens on Friday.
