Pug Bates of Bates seen fainting in security footage
Raising Bates Star Carlin Bates is recovering after passing out on surveillance video as she continues to battle a mysterious condition.
In a video shared on her and husband Evan Stewart’s YouTube channel, the couple updated fans on Carlin’s health. Their daughter Layla Rae, born in January 2020, also made an adorable appearance.
Carlin begins by telling fans that she’s “sleeping more” because “that last thing that happened really erased me,” referencing the last time she passed out.
Sharing a bit of background, Carlin says that while working with her and Evan’s son, whom they welcomed in March, she started to pass out – something she hadn’t done before but feels. she continued to feel after she was born.
“I started having what they think was some kind of seizure,” she says. “I started feeling weird, having blurred vision, headaches and passing out.”

After testing and speaking with doctors, Carlin says she learned she “had an underlying issue” since birth, and that labor with her second child triggered the condition. Still, the couple say Carlin’s doctors aren’t sure what caused the problem.
The couple first shared a video of them passing out in a shop recently. In the clip, Carlin is visibly unconscious as she lies with her eyes closed as her head moves. Doctors later advised her to “get back on the meds”, but she passed out again after taking the meds for a week.
During this incident, Evan and Carlin were at a Vacation Bible School event in their church foyer when “the big event happens,” Evan says.
Carlin remembers telling her friend not long before, “My head is really weird,” but she thought it was just the medicine.
“This one gave me no warning,” Carlin says of the fainting. “I just remember trying to get out of the conversation, and I just remember losing it. Everything seemed to slow down.”
Her friend said at the time that Carlin talked to other people when she had trouble finding the words she wanted to say. She remembers seeing Carlin fall into her son’s car seat, banging his head against the concrete.

“Our pastor’s wife said to me, ‘I literally saw your head bouncing off the concrete,'” Carlin adds.
Evan continues and says her doctor confirmed that she suffered a concussion.
Before he ends the video, he shares that Carlin will be receiving the results of heart tests and other evaluations she recently had as doctors try to figure out what’s causing her seizures.
